After graduating from St. Augustine's, I attended WVU where I earned a BM degree in 1964. I immediately began work on my MM degree at Indiana University and completed it in 1966. After "escaping" the draft, I began work on a PhD in Musicology back at WVU. In 1967 I began teaching in North Carolina at what was then Pembroke State College. I completed the PhD in 1975 and continued teaching at Pembroke (the institution is now UNC Pembroke)for the next 40 years. I married Norma Marshall in 1971 and we have 2 children, Adrienne and Mark and 2 grandchildren, Gavin and Gabrielle.
I have served as church organist at a variety of churches, a position I still hold today. In 2007 we moved to the mountains of NC where we still live.
